It's Cristmas time again, and here at the GTGNO Podcast we're bringing you a bag full of musical goodies to help spread some holiday cheer. The playtime has been extended to 2 hrs, after all, Christmas only comes once a year! You'll hear classics, classics with a twist and even a few songs for our friends celebrating Chanuka. It's been a while since the last GTGNO, so my apologies for the tardiness. This episode has absolutely no genre format (but do any really?), so we're jumping all over the musical spectrum. Tune in for new tracks off of the Black Lips latest album "Arabia Mountain" and new material from Peter, Bjorn & John. In addition you'll hear tracks from the Mad Capsule Markets, Anthrax, Krupted Peasant Farmerz, the Standells and many more underground gems. Not to mention 2 classics by the legendary MYSTIC FIX, from Lafayette Louisiana. Speaking of MYSTIC FIX, the final touches are being done as I type, on the documentary "Cajun Hell". The Cajun Hell documentary explores the little known (outside of South Louisiana anyway) Lafayette punk scene, with the primary focus being on the late Criss "Drunk" Bennett. Criss Drunk was the lead singer of South Louisiana punk bands Mystic Fix, Southern Discomfort and the LA Phantoms. Criss and Mystic Fix were a pivotal part of the Louisiana punk scene from the early 90's up until his untimely passing in June of 2007. The film, by Miscellaneous Productions, is due to premiere in early 2012. This was a fun episode to do. I went back to the 60's and pryed open the wood on a hope chest full of classic, rockin Girl Groups, angst ridden but still ladies. A fun episode to do and I hope you enjoy there little known and famous gems. |
